Chefs Choice Knife Sharpener

October 8th, 2009

If you like to keep your knives in tip top condition and always sharp you cannot go past a Chefs Choice Knife Sharpener manufactured by the EdgeCraft Corporation. This company was founded in 1984 by Daniel D Friel Sr, and since that time has been at the cutting edge (please excuse the pun!) of knife sharpening technology.

To ensure the best performance of your quality knives, Chefs Choice Knife Sharpener is the one to choose. From their wide range of easy to use knife sharpeners you are sure to find one that will suit you perfectly.

Using a knife that is not as sharp as it should be can prove to be a danger in the kitchen. A dull knife may easily slip and cut the user’s fingers. Having a Chefs Choice Knife Sharpener on hand in your kitchen greatly lessens this danger.

The range of Chefs Choice Knife Sharpeners covers diamond sharpening stones, manual sharpeners to electric sharpeners that will sharpen your knives in seconds.

By far the most popular sharpeners in the range are the electric sharpeners. Each Chefs Choice Knife Sharpener has two or more sharpening stages with accurate angle guides using100% diamond abrasives. These machines ensure ultra sharp edges every time they are used. With these sharpeners knives can be restored to razor sharpness from 15-30 seconds.

There are models of Chefs Choice Knife Sharpener exclusively for Asian style knives. These knives have a different angle and bevel than those used by Westerners. Therefore the sharpener’s blades have to accommodate this difference. There is also a model for serrated knives.

No matter what quality knives need to be sharpened, from the budget knife to the most expensive chef’s and butcher’s knives, they will all be given a new edge if sharpened with a Chefs Choice Knife Sharpener.

Right from the beginning when the first Chefs Choice Knife Sharpener was introduced to the market in 1984 these electric sharpeners have been given world wide acclaim. They are now sold in over 50 countries. A commercial model was introduced to the market in 1995. This was specifically produced for restaurants, caterers and other commercial businesses where knives need to be sharpened regularly and quickly. This machine will sharpen both conventional knives and serrated knives.

Of course, there are still chefs and others who want to have complete control over their knife sharpening. If they have the time there is no better sharpening stone than the one produced in the Chefs Choice Knife Sharpener range. This stone is 100% diamond abrasive adhered to a flat steel plate. This will sharpen stainless steel, carbon steel and many other materials.

There are also other manual Chefs Choice Knife Sharpeners. Knives are run back and forward through the machine by hand creating the sharp edge that is required. Chefs Choice also make the world’s most advanced sharpening steels also made with 100% diamond abrasives.

No matter whether you are a professional chef, you just cook for the family and friends, or you work in an industry that uses knives, there will be chefs choice knife sharpener that will meet your needs.

August 14th, 2010

trying to find a good knife sharpener for my job as a meat carver, and i was wondering whats the best electric sharpener out there to buy, (best brand and model)

p.s i freaking hate using steels and stones

First of all I googled Knife Sharpeners Cooks Illustrated article. The Magazine Cooks Illustrated does extensive research on most products for the kitchen this is what came up first http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/349552 Then you can also do a search for the product over on Amazon and see what reviews are saying about the knife sharpeners as well.

If you put your bosses knife into an electric sharpener be prepared to have him use it on you. I know I would. So you freaking hate steels and stones. You might be in the wrong trade. You need an axe stone. Crystolon brand. They are a synthetic stone, two sided, fine and medium an are about the size and shape of a hockey puck. I would be lost without mine. Anbd a good arkansas oilstone and a good steel. If this is seriously your profession then dont buy cheap junk. If you properly sharpen your knives then once a month touch ups should be enough. But constant use of the steel will keep your edge.
electric knife sharpeners should be illegal. They are the ruin of any good knife put through them.
